"In a time of significant changes globally, regarding our consumption of the planet's resources, and locally in terms of a new understanding of design and furniture production, the theme for SE's exhibition in 2024 will be (R)evolution.
The theme invites a debate through furniture about what the near future will look like and how we should design-wise relate to it. How is it possible to create community-focused furniture in 2024?
Danish furniture design has a long and strong tradition of understanding and responding to future challenges through a deep-rooted understanding of its origins and the qualities inherent in past designs, and what it takes to renew this tradition."

"According to the judges, this year's Designer is a true comet. She is young, but when you look at her work, you think she has been doing it for many years. With great empathy, she strikes a blow for mental health through design, which encourages us to stop, take a break and look out at the world. She creates designs that improve life for the elderly and demented. And her contribution to this year's SE exhibition was a showstopper. A chandelier that proves that neon light can actually be beautiful! This year's designer is the epitome of innovation and hope, and we think she will contribute to shape tomorrow's design scene."

Cabinetmakers' Autumn Exhibition awarded by the Danish Arts Foundation
The Motivation from Statens Kunstfond (The Danish Arts Foundation):
"For over 40 years, the Carpenters' Autumn Exhibition has heralded the arrival of autumn with an annual exhibition. Here architects/designers and cabinetmakers/manufacturers show the result of their collaboration - a collaboration that used to be taken for granted but today cannot be taken for granted. "Factory" is the theme of this year's exhibition. A word that has taken on a nostalgic tone as production has moved out of the country, turning Danish factories into rare and exotic destinations or, as here the theme of an exhibition. The exhibitors all have a professional relationship with manufacturing and relate broadly to the theme. Flat-pack design - where manufacturing is outsourced to the consumer's home - seems to be a dominant concept which is interpreted in very different ways: Peter Johansen's easy-to-read and self-evident stool is an example of a highly usable design that can be easily assembled in any home, while Ditte Hammerström's fabulous and voluminous side sculpture plays with and challenges the rationality of flat-pack dogma and the assembly process itself to the extreme. Others choose to expose the aesthetics of the making process itself or approach it more abstractly to the factory theme, but either way, the high quality of craftsmanship is a feature of all the works on display, which are bound together by an unbroken podium that winds through the old factory hall like a stylized assembly line. Elegantly, simply and intelligently resolved by Sara Martinsen. It's a pleasure to see how good craftsmanship, meticulousness, and uncompromising creative urge unfold over four decades with undiminished strength."

Andrea Mende, freelance journalist Leipzig:
"A piece of heaven. "Dream View Lamp" plays with the vision of vastness.
What to do when we can't get enough light during the day, when we lack an unobstructed view of the sky? Lise Vester's luminaire "Dream View Lamp" is intended to replace this view and help us to synchronize better with nature, even indoors. We are shaped by the circadian rhythm, the alternation between day and night. Our inner clock is synchronized to this rhythm, and numerous processes in the body are controlled by it. We know that light affects humans on a biological and emotional level. It plays a major role in whether we feel good or not. Creating new perspectives The collection "The Dream View" developed by Lise Vester is based on these considerations. One of the products from her series is the "Dream View Lamp". The lamp can be hung freely in the room or attached to a wall. It takes on the task of mimicking the view of the sky. The collection was Lise's graduation project at the Royal College of Art in London, where she earned her master's degree in Design Products in 2021. With her "Dream View Lamp," the young Danish designer wanted to explore how design can improve mental well-being, specifically by synchronizing with the sky. "Daydreaming is an inward attention and reflection. It's a meditative state where we learn, grow and come up with new ideas. And looking at the sky is an excellent space to drift off. But spending 90 % of your time indoors, the view of the sky can sometimes be limited or excluded.." Her solution: a lamp combined with differently designed textiles that mimic the circadian colors of the sky. "Dream View Lamp" is similar in structure to a roller blind, whose fabric is set into slow, automatic rotation, creating a changing atmosphere in the room. "The textile allows us to see the next colours of the time of day, just like a clock, by the subtle colour changes of the textile.," Lise said. The top tube rotates and moves the textile once in a 24-hour period. Blue hues appear during the day, pink hues at night. Optionally, the lunar cycle can also be used, in which case one rotation lasts 29.5 days. „With this project I wanted to make materials and the light and it’s qualities more tangible and sensory for people," explains Lise, who was nominated for the imm cologne 2022 Pure Talents Contest with her "Dream View Lamp." She had to do many of her studies on it during the lockdown, which presented her with great challenges. Her collection, "The Dream View," is also meant to draw attention to the importance of mental health, especially in light of people's experiences around the world with the pandemic and the issue of isolation. "What fascinates me about light is how intangible light is, but yet how big an impact it makes on people's lives. It affects us on emotional and physical levels - even when we don't notice it."

"Young Talent" Finalist at Danish Design Award hosted by Danish Design Center & Design Denmark
The jury says:
"The focus on improving mental well-being is crucial. Especially given present times where mental health issues are on the rise. Fortunately, Lise’s solution, “The Dream View,” a mental and meditative break, takes this problem very seriously, and the result is brilliant. The bench has excellent back support, while the lamp gives a certain sense of reduced anxiety, ultimately resulting in a calming ambiance that is also pleasing to the eye. This calm setting is beneficial for our mental well-being, as it encourages us to stop, think, and gain new perspectives. We could all use a break like this."
